PAT Testing Legislation
Each Year over 1000 electrical accidents at work are reported to HSE each year.
The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999.
The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.
The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.

All of the above put the responsibility of care on the employer and the employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the work premises.
It is recommended that such PAT tests are completed on an annual basis to ensure the safety of the people using and maximum compliance to the law.
The (PAT) Portable Appliance Testing Service from Solihull Electrical include a thorough visual inspection:
Damage to the flex wire
Plug and Casing Damage (wear and tear, exposed wires, burn marks)
Plugs incorrectly wired
Incorrectly fitted or wrong fuse
Following the visual inspection a selection of electrical tests are carried out from, Earth Bond Testing, Flex Polarity Test, Insulation Resistance, Load Test, Earth Leakage Test and a Functional Check.
Our experienced PAT Testers are fully qualified with a BTEC National Certificate in Electrical/Electronic and Control Engineering and an NVQ in Electrical Testing with many years experience in PAT testing, using the latest fully certified PAT Testing equipment.
Our procedure conforms to the HSE guidelines and all work is carried out under the IET’s Code of Practice for Testing Electrical Equipment
All testing is carried out under the IET’s Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment, the standards body responsible for PAT testing and conforms to HSE guidelines.
