PAT Testing Services ensuring your electrical appliances are safe

As part of our increasing support and service, Solihull Electrical are now offering a PAT (Portable Appliance Testing) Service.

 

Now a legal requirement, which ensures that all employees in the workplace are completely safe when using electrical equipment.

 

The law states that any piece of equipment that uses a plug must be PAT Tested at least once a year


 


Each Year over 1000 electrical accidents at work are reported to HSE each year.

 

The Health & Safety at Work Act 1974, the Management of Health & Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

 

The Electricity at Work Regulations 1989, the Workplace (Health, Safety and Welfare) Regulations 1992.

 

The Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998.

All of the above put the responsibility of care on the employer and the employee to ensure the safety of all persons using the work premises.

PAT Testing ( Portable Appliance Testing )


The Solihull Electrical PAT Testing Service ensure that you company conforms to the Electricity at Work Regulations. These regulations impose a duty on all employers, employees, self employed etc to take precautions against injury, fire or death from using defective electrical equipment.

 

It is recommended that such PAT tests are completed on an annual basis to ensure the safety of the people using and maximum compliance to the law.

 

The Portable Appliance (PAT) Testing Service from Solihull Electrical include a thorough visual inspection:

Damage to the flex wire
Plug and Casing Damage (wear and tear, exposed wires, burn marks)
Plugs incorrectly wired
Incorrectly fitted or wrong fuse

 

Following the visual inspection a selection of electrical tests are carried out from, Earth Bond Testing, Flex Polarity Test, Insulation Resistance, Load Test, Earth Leakage Test and a Functional Check.

Our experienced PAT Testers are fully qualified with a BTEC National Certificate in Electrical/Electronic and Control Engineering and an NVQ in Electrical Testing with many years experience in PAT testing, using the latest fully certified PAT Testing equipment.

 

Our procedure conforms to the HSE guidelines and all work is carried out under the IET's Code of Practice for Testing Electrical Equipment


All testing is carried out under the IET's Code of Practice for In-Service Inspection and Testing of Electrical Equipment, the standards body responsible for PAT testing and conforms to HSE guidelines.

Solihull Electricals Portable Appliance Testers will initially carry out an assessment of the environment before any testing is carried out to ensure there is no risk to them or any other people.
